Notice of motion/amendments to the ASCM Rules/Constitution

To all members and friends of the Australian Student Christian Movement

Dear friends

As you would be aware that ASCM Review, mandated by the National Executive Committee, sought to identify what has gone well in the last few years, what the challenges are and what we should do in the future.

In light of the review discussions following proposal has been put forward by Dr. Sandy Yule to the 2021 Annual General Meeting of the ASCM. Please consider this email as notice of amendments to the ASCM Rules.

Many thanks for your consideration.

Regards
John Probhudan Biswas
National Coordinator (Outgoing), ASCM

  2. ASCM Rules as adopted in 2015
  3. Proposed ASCM Rules for adoption in 2021

A motion From Sandy Yule, ASCM Review Committee

That the 2021 Annual General Meeting of the ASCM Association to adopt the new Rules of the ASCM Association with the proposed changes attached herewith to become the rules governing the ASCM Association.

Rationale

These proposed Rules contain changes from the Rules agreed to in 2015 that are designed to create offices, particularly the office of Chairperson, which will look after the organization of the ASCM so that the National Director or Directors can focus on the outreach work of the ASCM.

In addition, some Rules have been changed to empower particular officers without specifying in too much detail how they must proceed.

There are a few changes of terminology and requirements that seek to reflect our present practice.

In most respects, the Rules are effectively unchanged.

  1. Current Rules of the ASCM Association
  2. The new Rules of the ASCM Association with proposed changes.
