- Sun 20 Jun 5-6pm:
Karen Pack (PhD scholar): A crisis of faith: The unfinished business of Constance Duncan (1896-1970)
Abstract from Karen: I will examine Constance Duncan’s formational early years with ASCM and how this nurtured the networks which she would repeatedly turn to throughout her life in her advocacy and policy making. Duncan spent her life advocating for marginalised, overlooked and excluded people. Her ongoing relevance is crucial. Today, the evangelical churches, in particular, are proving reluctant to involve themselves in issues of social justice such as refugee rights, racial justice, climate justice and inclusive practice. I will conclude by considering why Duncan’s life and legacy have been relegated to the margins of history, and how a recovery of Duncan’s legacy might inspire Christians to walk in her footsteps, act courageously for social justice, and prompt a reconsideration of the value of LGBTQ+ Christians.
- Sun 4 July 5-6pm:
Rev Dr David Gill: Students for the renewal of the church
